How We Handle Western New York Ground
Excavation Contractors Buffalo does residential and light commercial earthwork across Buffalo and the towns of Erie and Niagara counties: grading and leveling, basement and foundation digs, water and sewer trenches, French drains, land clearing and demolition.
The ground here was shaped by ice and old lakes. North of the city, the bed of Glacial Lake Tonawanda left soils that have given Amherst a long-running problem with sinking homes. Along the Onondaga Escarpment, Ellicott Creek drops 27 feet at Glen Falls in Williamsville. Much of the lake plain is flat and slow to drain. Add 95.4 inches of snow a year at the airport, and drainage and frost are the two things we plan every job around.
How we work
- A free visit to look at the ground, the water and the access.
- An underground utility locate request before every dig, and we wait for marks.
- A written quote that separates digging, hauling, stone, backfill and restoration.
- Backfill placed in lifts and compacted, especially on clay.
- Water directed to a real outlet, not left to pond against a foundation.
- If something unexpected turns up, we stop and talk with you before the price changes.
